COVID 19 TSC Update
Hello TSC Members,
For the past month there hasn't been much to tell and we still have no specific information from our Governor about the Fall Youth Sports seasons. The OSAA has limited practices and while there hasn't been an official announcement it does not look like Fall Sports will be possible. The latest announcement from the Governor and TTSD is that we will not have in person schooling (for most kids) for the first 9 weeks of school. That takes us into November and past the Fall Seasons. I expect OSAA and TTSD to come out with another announcement the week of August 10th.
However the school announcements do not necessarily affect whether or not Youth Soccer can play. Youth Soccer is not tied to the school except that we may use their fields for practices. Thus far our league and our club is moving forward with plans to have a season. We meet bi-weekly with the THJSL to ensure we have the most current information available.
There are several indicator we follow that tell us whether or not we will have a season. The one we are going off of now is the Phase 2 reopening for Washington County. Soccer is a phase 2 approved sport and thus we would be able to practice and play with minimal restrictions. It is imperative to understand that if we can slow the spread of the disease we can have soccer again. Wearing a mask and practicing both good hygiene and social distancing will help us get to where we need to be. The more people that participate in these practices the sooner we will get back to soccer.
